Introduction

The MDRS Entertainment and Research Libraries Catalogue is intended as a Living Document, designed to grow and contract as the Libraries of Entertainment and Research materials available at the MDRS HAB change over the years.

This manual is structured with several main topics that address the five main categories of Entertainment and Research assisting materials available at MDRS. Within these sections are catalogue listings of CD's, DVD's, printed books and VHS Video Tapes currently available at MDRS for the use of the research crews who temporarily inhabit the Mars Desert Research Station.

Please note that equipment to play the CD's, DVD's and VHS Video tapes in the MDRS Libraries is NOT provided by The Mars Society and as such crews are expected to provide their own CD/DVD reading equipment.

One section that should not be overlooked is the Change Log, located in Appendix 1 at the back. It lists all changes made to this document by crews and individuals, and should be updated whenever a change is made.

This Entertainment and Research Libraries Catalogue should not be perceived as a static document, but rather as a living one that changes and grows according to the status of the Libraries. As crews come and go, additions and subtractions will be made to reflect changes to the MDRS Entertainment and Research Libraries.

Therefore, it is essential for all crews to read and update this catalogue as required and send by file attach email, the updated Entertainment and Research Libraries Catalogue to the Chief Documents Editor at "mdrs.editor@gmail.com" for editorial review and posting to the ET Documents Website.

MDRS Entertainment & Reference Libraries

Entertainment at MDRS can take many forms from games to listening to music, enjoying a movie together to a quiet evening in one’s stateroom reading a book in peace and quiet. Fixing equipment at MDRS or getting your science project done require either Manuals or Reference books. The following seven Libraries list all the donations of previous crews to the MDRS Libraries. Please do consult these lists before making your decision of what to donate so as to avoid duplications.

It is not compulsory to donate, it is only a suggestion. If what you would donate is already here then just come on down and enjoy your crew rotation. If you feel you can contribute, then do so and please let the editor know show he can update the Catalogue so that someone on the next crew will not duplicate your donation.

To advise the Editor of a contribution send an E-mail to the Chief Documents Editor for MDRS & FMARS, Hugh S. Gregory, Spaceflight Historian at "mdrs.editor@gmail.com" with a subject line of “MDRS Editor - Library list update” and tell him to which library you donated to and the Title (and author if it is a book) of your donation.

Equipment Manuals Library

These Equipment Manuals are for some of the equipment found at MDRS. If new equipment arrives and is activated during your crew's visit to MDRS and it comes with a Manual, please let the editor Hugh S. Gregory know via e-mail to "mdrs.editor@gmail.com" with a message Subject line of “MDRS Editor - Equipment Manual Library Update”.
